Maserati 100th Anniversary Watch: $103K Luxury Timepiece
Maserati and Bianchet have unveiled a limited-edition timepiece that celebrates a century of the Trident brand. The UltraFino Maserati Flying Tourbillon is not just another luxury watch - it's a statement piece that costs more than many of Maserati's own vehicles.
nnProduction is strictly limited to 100 units, with each watch priced at 81,616 Swiss Francs (approximately $103,400). This positions the timepiece above the starting price of the Maserati Grecale SUV, which begins at $84,500 in the US market.
nnThe watch features an open-worked skeleton dial inspired by Maserati's MCPura supercar alloy wheels. The AI Aqua Rainbow accents mirror the color treatment found on the vehicle, while the high-density carbon case and bracelet echo the supercar's monocoque chassis construction.
nnAt its heart beats Bianchet's UT01 calibre, a hand-finished automatic movement measuring just 3.85 mm thick. Despite its delicate appearance, the movement is engineered to withstand shocks of up to 5,000 G - a specification that seems somewhat excessive for a timekeeping device.
nnThe flying tourbillon cage, crafted from Grade 5 titanium, serves as the horological equivalent of Maserati's Nettuno engine. The complete watch weighs only 36 grams without the strap, offering remarkable lightness for its price point.
nnBuyers can choose between an integrated carbon fiber bracelet or a natural vulcanized rubber strap with a titanium folding clasp. To commemorate the launch, Maserati and Bianchet are hosting exclusive driving experiences in Geneva, where guests can experience the MCPura supercar alongside the commemorative timepiece.
nnWhile Maserati faces challenges in automotive sales, this collaboration demonstrates the brand's continued commitment to luxury craftsmanship beyond the automotive realm. The UltraFino Maserati Flying Tourbillon represents a fusion of Italian automotive design and Swiss watchmaking excellence, creating a collector's item that transcends traditional luxury categories.
