Chinese battery manufacturer CATL has set a new benchmark in electric vehicle charging technology, surpassing both BYD and Geely with its latest innovation. The company's third-generation Shenxing LFP battery represents a significant leap forward in charging speeds and efficiency.

The most impressive feat of this new battery technology is its ability to charge from 10% to 35% in just one minute - faster than many household appliances can boil water. The battery continues its remarkable performance by reaching 80% charge in only 3 minutes and 44 seconds, a full 1 minute and 38 seconds faster than Geely's recently announced Golden Brick battery.

Even more remarkably, the CATL battery can go from completely depleted to 98% charge in just 6 minutes and 27 seconds. This is faster than the time it takes a Ford Mustang GTD to complete a lap of the legendary Nürburgring circuit.

Cold weather performance is another area where CATL's battery excels. Even at -30°C (-22°F), the battery maintains its rapid charging capability, reaching 98% charge in just 9 minutes. This addresses one of the major concerns EV owners have about winter charging.

The battery's internal resistance of 0.25 milliohms is 50% lower than the industry average, contributing to its exceptional performance. CATL has also implemented advanced features including multi-point temperature monitoring for each cell and innovative Self-Heating technology that uses heat pulses to improve charging speeds in cold conditions.

Battery longevity is equally impressive, with CATL claiming the battery maintains over 90% health even after 1,000 ultra-fast charge cycles. This addresses concerns raised by BMW engineers about the long-term viability of extremely fast-charging batteries.

While BYD is already expanding its Flash Charging network across Europe, CATL is also exploring international markets through partnerships, though the company has not announced immediate plans for US expansion.
